[Bug 2139029] Re: File systen corruption with v. 25.10

Workaround by adding intel_iommu=off in grub. It seems to be related to
Intel SATA (AHCI) + IOMMU / DMA regression with the kernel 6.17.

Title:
File systen corruption with v. 25.10

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
New

Bug description:
After installing Ubuntu 25.10, the command "apt update" report corrupted files (package cache file) on a HDD or Read Only file system on SSD. fsck finds errors, corrects them but the errors reappear after each reboot.
Test installations performed 4 times, two on a SSD, two on a HDD, each time with new images on a thumb drive and on the same system. Initially the 25.10 was working fine on this system, it seems a recent update was the cause of the issue. Version 24.04.3 LTS can be installed without any issue (as well as Zorin OS 18).

The command "ubuntu-bug linux" cannot produce a report because of a
corrupted package cache file

Logs shows like (more attached);
13:14:05 kernel: EXT4-fs (sdb2): failed to convert unwritten extents to written extents -- potential data loss! (inode 29884970, error -5)
13:14:05 kernel: I/O error, dev sdb, sector 8122368 op 0x1:(WRITE) flags 0x0 phys_seg 64 prio class 2

13:14:05 kernel: ata6: SError: { UnrecovData HostInt Handshk }
...

Installed kernel is the 6.17.0-8
The board is an "old" MSI-7850, chipset Z97
CPU is an Intel Core i7-4790
SATA controler is an Intel 9 series, AHCI mode
32 Gbs RAM

As mentionned the system was working fine with the 25.10 about 3 weeks
ago, but 1 week ago, reported a missing Nvidia video driver. After
reinstaling the driver, the system was still reporting missing driver.
After a reboot, the system stopped on the Ubuntu loading screen.
Chaging the BIOS video output from PEG to the IDG allow me to access
Ubuntu. Starting with a Live Session a fsck detected a corrupted disk,
corrected it but the errors comming back after each reboot. Then a
reinstallation and more file system corruption...
