Hi Paolo,

Thank you for the follow up.  I found a solution, the problem was a bios
setting.  When I changed the setting from "efi and all legacy" to "efi
only" the problem disappeared.

This new HP laptop has a much more complicated bios with about three
times the number of settings compared to my old Lenovo Thinkpad making
the installation of any linux OS much more challenging.

BSOD using HP Elitebook with AMD Raven Ridge graphics processor

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete

Bug description:
To avoid the problem of a black screen of death interupting the boot process permanently in kernel 6.8.0-38 one can edit grub to replace "quiet splash" with "amd_iommu=off" to solve the problem.
Doing this in 6.8.0.47 has no effect and user is stuck with black screen of death during boot.

This problem has been experienced by many since June 2024, some 4
months ago and is unresolved.
